*NDB stands for the National Database of Health Insurance Claims and Specific Health Checkups of Japan, which is managed by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. The NDB is used to conduct research and analysis for the creation, implementation, and evaluation of the Medical Expense Reasonableness Plan in accordance with the Act on Securing Medical Care for the Elderly, which has been in effect since April 2008, and contains information on health insurance claims, specific health checkups, and specific health guidance. Work on the NDB is ongoing.
